Meet our riser of the month

When it comes to fitness, Camille Platten takes a one day at a time approach. "Do something healthy each day that makes you feel good," says Camille, who you'll see at as many early RISE classes as she can fit in each week.

Getting up and showing up, even when she doesn't feel like it, keeps Camille motivated to come back for more every week. "I feel I have an obligation to lead by example in hopes that that motivation will rub off on others," she says. "I love the feeling of going after something 100% and accomplishing it!"

In addition to those accomplishments, Camille loves RISE's community and the friendly competition at each class and Challenge. "Who wouldn't want to be apart of a family that emphasizes being the best version of you while focusing on health/fitness, camaraderie, friendly competition and giving back to the community?," says Camille. "This is why I RISE!"

Congrats, Camille on being named the RISER of the Month. To find out more of the reasons Camille continues to RISE each week, READ ON!

What are your long-term workout goals?

Well, my mother did JAZZERSIZE forever and now at 71yrs of age, she is certified and teaches Zumba Gold...I have some big shoes to fill! I pray I have the opportunity to workout until I can no longer workout. It's a part of who I am and what I do.

What RISE class gets you feeling the most mentally and physically amped?

Argh! That's tough because I love them all but if I have to pick one, it would be any of the RISE Cycle classes. The instructor's way of getting in your head so you can visualize your ride and telling you to push yourselves....there goes the competitor in me again!

How do you stay engaged and focused on wellness and fitness despite today's challenges?

I am using today's challenges to fuel my wellness and fitness lifestyle. For me, it's how I choose to react to everything going on, I look for the positive.

What is your athletic background?

Surprisingly, I never played sports as a child and really didn't start working out until my late 20s. A fun fact - on my bucket list was to be in a fitness competition. So in 2014 I enlisted a trainer, trained for 15 weeks and took 1st place in my age group at the time, 40-50 years old, in a fitness bikini competition!

What is your best healthy living tip?

Wake up grateful and smile!
